Development & Grants Manager (DGM)
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development & Grants Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and executing the overall strategy of fundraising, communication, special events, public relations, and donor engagement. Activities to ensure success include executing continuous donor engagement and communications strategies, identifying and securing sponsorships and supporting a robust foundation grant revenue pipeline. This position will work closely with the Executive Director (ED), CHRICED Board and external committees to successfully implement and execute fundraising strategies, events and advocacy efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Leadership
- Oversee the development of an organization-wide fundraising and sustainability strategy in collaboration with the Executive Director, Director of Fin & Admin and the Assistance Director of Programs.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Asst. Director of Programs to achieve diversification of funding sources organization wide, and program-wide.
- In collaboration with Executive Director and Program Director, develop appropriate retention plan and strategies for core program partners.
- Lead the development of communications and brand promotion strategies for CHRICED as thought leaders and partner of choice for targeted donor and development partners.
- Lead the process of donor research, identification, cultivation, and management in collaboration with the Executive Director and Asst. Director of Programs.
- Grants Management
- Oversee the writing, editing, and submission of all grant applications in accordance with donor requirements and deadlines, and monitors and tracks status of proposals.
- Oversee completion of all annual competitive and non-competitive renewal applications for funding.
- Lead the research of foundations and public opportunities that align with CHRICED’s mission and strategic program priorities and socialize the report with the rest of the organization.
- Assemble all pertinent grant material necessary for final submission of proposals including budgets in partnership with the Asst. Director of Programs, and Director of Fin & Admin.
- Develop and maintain CHRICED calendar of grant-related deadlines, track necessary actions, and coordinates timelines with relevant staff.
- Oversee the writing and submission of all required grant reports and sponsorship reports in collaboration with Project Officers and Asst. Director of Programs.
- Keep abreast of data, research, statistics, and information about issues, trends and community needs relating to target populations and program services.
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance & Admin. to ensure adequate procedures for sub-granting and reporting of all fiscal responsibilities and small grants responsibilities of CHRICED.
- FUNDRAISING AND SPECIAL EVENTS
- In collaboration with the ED, implement a continuous donor engagement plan designed to achieve growth
- Support a robust foundation submission pipeline
- Manage portfolio of individual donors
- Maintain accurate records in organization database
- Plan, coordinate and execute events, including Third-party partner fundraising events.
- Identify and solicit event sponsors, financial and in-kind gifts
- Develop and adhere to event budgets
- Manage logistics to ensure a successful day-of event experience for partners and participants
- COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC RELATIONS:
- Manage annual communication campaigns to donors and volunteers
- Assist in the development of the annual CHRICED Report
- Submit monthly website updates, including event listings, promotions, sponsor listings and awareness articles
- ADMINISTRATION
- Manage solicitation and stewardship processes for donors, as assigned, including tracking relevant information, processing gifts, and sending thank you letters
- Maintain and update the donor tracking system.
- Develop and maintain an efficient system for tracking information regarding event benchmarks, revenue/expenses to-date, task designation, and other logistics – provides regular progress reports to Executive Director
- PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
- A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of a wide range of experience in development and event coordination, along with expertise in grant writing and management for private foundations, nonprofit organizations, and/or corporate foundations.
- Good knowledge of the principles of fundraising from foundations, private sector, bilateral and multilateral; agencies, and International Financial Institutions.
- Previous experience in preparing multiple funding application forms and writing detailed and compelling proposals.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of tasks.
- Excellent diplomacy skills.
- Some experience of social media and digital marketing.
- DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- A minimum of Higher National Diploma or bachelor’s degree required (master’s degree will be added advantage), preferably in marketing, public relations, applied research, international development, or related field
- Sound knowledge of nonprofit and development sector.
- Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, in addition to Salesforce and other relative fundraising software
- Innate ability to work steadily and calmly in high pressure situations Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time
- Salary: N12,000,000 – N15,600,000 annually based on experience

CHRICED maintains a 40-hour weekly work schedule for all staff. Details of starting and finishing times, which may vary in accordance with CHRICED needs, will be communicated to successful applicants.
