April 4, 2025

On February 12, 2025, CHRICED, in collaboration with the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the broader civil society community, celebrated the birthdays of two distinguished champions of justice and democracy, Dr. Amina Salihu and Dr. Kole Shettima.

For decades, Dr. Kole Shettima and Dr. Amina Salihu have been champions of human rights, accountability, and good governance in Nigeria. Dr. Shettima, as Director of the MacArthur Foundation’s Africa Office, has led anti-corruption, education reform, and human rights efforts, empowering civil society and inspiring new change-makers. Dr. Salihu, a tireless advocate for gender justice and civic engagement, has worked to empower women and youth in governance, promoting a Nigeria rooted in justice and equity.

CHRICED honors their dedication and contributions toward building a fairer society.
