With profound sadness and a deep sense of loss, the Board of Directors, Management, and Staff of the Resource Centre for Human Rights & Civic Education (CHRICED) mourn the passing of distinguished scholar, public servant, and respected academic of Bayero University Kano (BUK), Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago. His death is a painful loss to the academic community, the public service sector, and to all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
To CHRICED, Professor Dandago was more than a renowned academic; he was a steadfast friend of the organisation and a dependable ally in our efforts to promote human rights, accountability, justice, and civic enlightenment. Despite his demanding professional commitments, he remained remarkably generous with his time, intellect, and network. Through his wide network of academics and professionals at Bayero University Kano and beyond, he enabled CHRICED to collaborate and draw insights, enhancing the quality and reach of our programs.
In our interactions with him, Professor Dandago stood out as a man of integrity, humility, and quiet dedication to the advancement of knowledge and public service. As a respected professor of accounting and public finance, his scholarly contributions enriched academic discourse while helping to shape generations of students and professionals. His commitment to mentorship, collaboration, and intellectual
engagement reflected the highest ideals of the academic tradition.
Those who worked closely with him will remember a man who was dependable, thoughtful, and always willing to lend his support to causes that advanced the public good. His belief in the importance of knowledge, institutional collaboration, and responsible public service resonated strongly with CHRICED’s mission of promoting social justice, transparency, and democratic accountability.
The passing of Professor Dandago is indeed a painful loss. Yet, even in grief, we are consoled by the enduring legacy he leaves behind as a scholar, mentor, public servant, and friend of progressive civic initiatives.
CHRICED extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, students, and the entire academic community. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him Aljannatul Firdaus and gives all those he left behind the strength and fortitude to bear this great loss. Amin.
