As part of CHRICED’s goal of protecting indigenous communities’ rights and preserving their heritage to ensure they have a voice and are treated fairly in governance and society, CHRICED is set to launch the second phase of the MacArthur Foundation-funded project. This initiative aims to create a historical repository and enhance the capacity of original inhabitants in Nigeria’s Federal Capital.
Building on past initiatives, the project will empower the indigenous people with knowledge, expertise, and resources to navigate the complex processes of seeking justice. It will also involve legal clinics, community workshops, and access to legal aid and support services. A meeting with selected sub-grantees for the new phase of the project was held within the reporting quarter, during which they were briefed about the project’s goals, objectives, and outlined activities. The project is set to be launched in the second quarter of the year.
