The Board of Directors, and Secretariat of the Resource Centre for Human Rights & Civic Education (CHRICED) mourns the death of former National Coordinator of Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) Professor Aaron Ola Ogundiwin. He passed on after a brief illness on November 16, 2023.
CHRICED is deeply pained by the exit of this forthright and committed colleague, who headed the TMG Secretariat shortly after the 2015 general elections. During Ogundiwin’s stint under the Chairmanship of Comrade Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi, he proved to be a dependable ally in the cause of deepening Nigeria’s democracy by leading the implementation of projects for the realization of the goal of free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections.
Prof. Ogundiwin was a political scientist and a committed scholar who used his skills as an academic to research and provide valuable insights during the implementation of diverse projects for the promotion of democracy and good governance.
He will be sorely missed, not just for the depth of his knowledge, but also for his willingness to use his talents for the growth and consolidation of democracy in Nigeria. In these difficult moments, CHRICED extends its condolences to his wife, Mrs. Ijeoma Ogundiwin, and all members of his family. May the Almighty creator grant the amiable Prof. Ogundiwin eternal repose.
